On 21 May 2026, Ukraine and Ukrainians around the world mark the 20th anniversary of World Vyshyvanka Day.
Over two decades, an initiative that began as a student campaign in Chernivtsi has grown into an international celebration. Every year, on the third Thursday of May, World Vyshyvanka Day unites Ukrainians and friends of Ukraine in more than 100 countries.
Vyshyvanka Day has become an important part of Ukraine’s cultural diplomacy and a symbol of our identity, memory, dignity, and continuity of tradition.
To mark this anniversary, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of India, together with the Ukrainian community, joins the celebration and opens a thematic exhibition at Sangeet Shyamala.
The exhibition will be open to the public from 22 to 25 May 2026 at the Sangeet Shyamala Gallery, located at A-12, opposite A-11/6, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi 110057.
The exhibition features materials from the “Ukraine and Ukrainians” exhibition by the National Centre of Folk Culture “Ivan Honchar Museum”, as well as materials from the “Heritage” project, provided by the NGO “World Vyshyvanka Day”.
We sincerely thank the Ivan Honchar Museum and the NGO “World Vyshyvanka Day” for providing the materials and supporting the preparation of the exhibition.
We invite everyone to wear a vyshyvanka on this day, support Ukraine, and honour the memory of all those who gave their lives for its freedom.
