Recent bilateral contacts
In January 2017 the First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Economic Development and Trade, as part of a working visit to the Republic of India, held a meeting with the Minister of Trade of Nepal.
4. Trade and economic relations
In 2025, total trade turnover between Ukraine and Nepal amounted to USD 13.26 million. Ukrainian exports to Nepal reached USD 13.23 million, while imports from Nepal to Ukraine totalled USD 35 thousand. Ukraine recorded a trade surplus of USD 13.195 million.
The main components of Ukrainian exports to Nepal traditionally included sunflower, safflower or cotton-seed oil (64.9% of total exports), turnip rape or colza seeds (23.37%), and wheat (6.44%). The main commodities imported from Nepal were filtering equipment, coffee, tea, spices, and articles of cardboard.

5. Cultural and humanitarian cooperation
The main area of cultural and humanitarian cooperation is the education of Nepalese youth in Ukrainian universities, as well as visits to Nepal of Ukrainian citizens for tourism and religious purposes.
6. Legal framework
The Legal and Treaty basis of the bilateral relations between Ukraine and Nepal consists of 1 international treaty in force – Protocol on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Ukraine and the Kingdom of Nepal (15.01.1993).
Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of Nepal on Visa Exemption for Holders of Diplomatic, Official and Service passports (date of signature: 18.03.2025; date of entry in force: 27.05.2026).
