On May 31, 2017 H.E. Mr. Igor Polikha, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of India and the Republic of Maldives concurrently, presented Credentials to H.E. Mr. Abdullah Abdul Yamin Hayum, President of Maldives. Within the framework of the protocol meeting the Sides discussed topical issues of Ukraine-Maldives cooperation.

During his stay in Male the Ambassador also held a range of meetings with senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, in particular Mr. Ali Naseer Mohamed, Foreign Secretary, and Mr. Ahmed Khaleel, Secretary (bilateral relations), as well as Mr. Moosa Zameer, Minister of Tourism.

During the talks the Parties underlined necessity of restoring the Ukraine-Maldives political dialogue, expanding the legal basis of bilateral relations, enhancement of cooperation within international organizations as well as development of Ukraine-Maldives ties in trade and economic and tourism spheres.
