On July 19-20, 2018 delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, led by Mrs. Oksana Bilozir, Head of the Parliamentary Group of Ukraine on Inter-Parliamentary Relations with Sri Lanka, paid working visit to the city of Colombo.

On July 20, 2018 the Sri Lanka – Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Association, chaired by prof. Ashu Marasinghe, member of Parliament of Sri Lanka, was inaugurated.

The Ukrainian delegation was also received also by H.E. Mr. Karu Jayasuriya, Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka, and H.E. Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. 

In the framework of the above visit, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of India and concurrently Sri Lanka held meetings with H.E. Mr. Prasad Kariyawasam, Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Mr. Sumith Nakandala, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Parties discussed topical issues of Ukraine-Sri Lanka relations, in particular the schedule of bilateral events as well as further development of the treaty framework between the two countries.
