Ambassador Dr. Oleksandr Polishchuk takes part in the Inauguration ceremony of the Ukraine Education Hub in India
15 April 2026 09:05

On 14 April 2026, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of India Dr. Oleksandr Polishchuk took part in the inauguration of the Ukraine Education Hub, an initiative of the Indo-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IUCCI).

The idea behind the Ukraine Education Hub is to make Ukrainian higher education more accessible, understandable and closer to Indian students. It is designed as a platform where prospective applicants can receive clear information about Ukrainian universities, study programmes and admission procedures, and better understand how the system works. In this way, Ukrainian education, known for its strong academic traditions and quality training in a wide range of fields, becomes more visible and approachable for young people in India. The Hub is also expected to support stronger academic cooperation, direct contacts between institutions, and broader people-to-people ties between Ukraine and India.

Before Russia’s full-scale invasion, more than 20,000 Indian students were studying in Ukraine, with the majority enrolled in medical and healthcare-related programmes, including MBBS. This long-standing interest reflects the trust Indian students and families have placed in Ukrainian education over many years.

The Government of Ukraine is actively working to ensure that the learning process remains safe, well-organised and accessible for all students. Universities operating offline must comply with strict safety requirements, including the availability of equipped shelters and emergency infrastructure, while a number of institutions from eastern and southern Ukraine have been relocated to safer regions in western Ukraine.

The event was also attended by representatives of the Ukrainian community in India, whose presence highlighted the importance of human connections in strengthening mutual understanding and bringing the peoples of Ukraine and India closer together.

It was especially symbolic that the inauguration took place on the occasion of Baisakhi, a festival associated with harvest, renewal and new beginnings. Taking this opportunity, Ambassador Oleksandr Polishchuk extended his greetings to all those celebrating Baisakhi and wished peace, prosperity and success.

On this occasion, the Ambassador also presented a decorative plate adorned with Petrykivka painting, a traditional Ukrainian decorative art inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The plate was painted by Olga Syrovatko, a Ukrainian artist residing in India.

The Embassy of Ukraine in India wishes every success to the Ukraine Education Hub team — Ms. Tanya Channa, CEO of the Hub, Mr. Ajay Channa, CMO of the Hub, and Mr. Armie Channa, President of the Indo-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
