On 21 March 2026, Ambassador of Ukraine to India H.E. Dr. Oleksandr Polishchuk visited O.P. Jindal Global University at the invitation of the Centre for European Studies to participate in AGORÁ 26: Conversations Beyond Borders. During the visit, the Ambassador delivered a lecture titled “European Borders: Real or Artificial?” as the concluding ambassadorial event of the three-day programme held from 19 to 21 March 2026.
In his remarks, the Ambassador reflected on the meaning of borders in contemporary Europe, with particular emphasis on Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and the imperial logic behind attempts to redraw internationally recognised borders by force in the 21st century. He stressed that such revisionist ambitions pose a direct challenge to international law, sovereignty, and the rules-based international order. The Ambassador also underscored Ukraine’s ongoing European integration and its status as a candidate for membership in the European Union.
The lecture was followed by a lively and engaging discussion with students, who raised numerous thoughtful questions on European security, Ukraine’s resilience, and the future of the continent.
The Ambassador also had the honour of presenting certificates to students who participated in the programme, recognising their active engagement and contribution.
Taking this opportunity, Dr. Oleksandr Polishchuk, also presented to The Global Library of O.P. Jindal Global University a copy of A Short History of Ukraine by Oleksandr Palii.
As part of the visit, the Ambassador also held a meeting with faculty members of the University, during which the sides exchanged views on the further development of Ukraine–India cooperation, particularly in the areas of education and academic collaboration.
The Embassy also highly appreciates the opportunity to present on campus the exhibition “UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Ukraine”, prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, which was displayed from 19 to 21 March 2026, allowing students and faculty to engage with Ukraine’s rich cultural heritage.
During the visit, the Ambassador and the Embassy team also toured The Constitution Museum and the Rights & Freedoms Academy at O.P. Jindal Global University. The Embassy was deeply impressed by this unique institution, which thoughtfully combines constitutional heritage, modern technology, and innovative presentation formats in a compelling and inspiring way. The Museum offers an outstanding space where the past and the present are brought into meaningful dialogue, making the ideas of constitutionalism and fundamental rights accessible and relevant to new generations. The Embassy is especially grateful to the University for displaying, as part of a temporary exposition, the copy of the Constitution of Pylyp Orlyk that had been presented by the Embassy in June 2025, on the occasion of the Constitution Day of Ukraine.
This engagement marked yet another important step in the growing partnership between the Embassy of Ukraine and O.P. Jindal Global University. The Embassy is pleased to note the successful experience of cooperation with the University, including two cohorts of JGU students who previously completed internships at the Embassy of Ukraine, contributing to the strengthening of people-to-people ties and academic exchange.
The Embassy of Ukraine also wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the leadership of O.P. Jindal Global University for their continued support and cooperation. In particular, the Embassy extends its appreciation to Prof. (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor of O.P. Jindal Global University, and Prof. Dabiru Sridhar Patnaik, Registrar of O.P. Jindal Global University, for all the support and facilitation extended in connection with this visit.
The Embassy is also grateful to Prof. (Dr.) Raffaela Puggioni and Prof. (Dr.) Silvia Bottega for their valuable support, warm cooperation, and contribution to the organisation of the programme. Special and heartfelt thanks are extended to Prof. (Dr.) Oleksandr Svitych for his dedicated efforts and invaluable support in the preparation and successful implementation of the visit.
The Embassy also extends its appreciation to its interns for their contribution to the preparation of the visit, with special recognition to Mr. Venkatesh Tiwari.
