On July 26, 2024, Ambassador of Ukraine to India Dr. Oleksandr Polishchuk was honoured to be the chief guest at the Annual Prize Distribution 2023-24 at Fr. Agnel School, New Delhi on the invitation of the Director Fr. Jose Alarico Carvalho. 

Ambassador congratulated all the participants and winners in his address and accentuated that it is crucial for us to remember that education is a powerful tool that can bring hope and change lives. He outlined the importance of using the privilege of receiving quality education in a peaceful environment to advocate for peace and unity, and work towards a world where every child can grow up in safety and with the opportunity to fulfil their potential.

"It is with a mix of emotions that I stand here today. As we celebrate the achievements and talents of the students, it’s also important to acknowledge that not all children around the world are as fortunate. Currently, many children in Ukraine are facing unimaginable hardships due to the Russian aggression against Ukraine. They are enduring hardships no child should ever have to experience” – intimated Dr. Oleksandr Polishchuk. 

Furthermore, Dr. Polishchuk pointed out the great dynamics of cultural collaboration, referring to the project “Empathy Bridges: Connecting Ukrainian and Indian Hearts” in which Fr. Agnel School is a partner of the Kyiv Gymnasium of Oriental Languages №1, thanking the project initiator Mr. Rudroneel Ghosh, and School teachers Ms. Kriti and Ms. Harveen for their guidance.

“This is the first project of its kind, and we are very proud of it. Ukrainian and Indian children have the opportunity to learn about each other’s daily lives, cultures, traditions, and build bridges of empathy and friendship across borders, building India-Ukraine relations from childhood” – acknowledged Ambassador.

School Director Fr. Jose Alarico Carvalho while congratulating the students emphasized that they are also proud to celebrate the resilience, strength and courage of the Ukrainian people.

Principal Fr. Roy D'Sa in his welcoming remarks stated: “Today we stand with you and your country in solidarity and hope as we witness the courage and the indomitable spirit of your people. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes of Ukraine!”

A variety of masterful dance performances, students’ exceptional musical and acting skills were showcased in the theatrical adaptation of Jaishankar Prasad's 'Dhruvswamini'. 

At the conclusion of the event, everyone stood up to pay tribute to the National anthem of Ukraine and Fr. Agnel School Anthem.
