On August 20, 2024, the constituent meeting of the Ukrainian-Indian Joint Working Group on Cultural Cooperation was held in an online format.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged information on the priorities of the respective government's activities in the field of culture, and discussed ways for deepening bilateral intercultural cooperation.
The parties also finalized the draft text of the Programme of Cultural Cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Culture of the Government of the Republic of India for the years 2024-2028.
“By signing the Cultural Cooperation Program, we not only demonstrate the importance of relations between our people but also formalize our commitment to concrete activities, results, and mutually beneficial projects. These will, in turn, strengthen our existing cooperation,” said Taras Shevchenko, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine for European Integration.
“Rest assured that India remains committed to further expanding and deepening our close ties with Ukraine for the benefit of both countries and their peoples,” said Lily Pandeya, Joint Secretary of International Cultural Relations of the Ministry of Culture of the Government of the Republic of India.
Representatives of both countries expressed hope for the continuation of a full-fledged dialogue after the signing of the above Programme within the framework of the official visit of the Prime Minister of India to Ukraine.
The Indian Side was represented by the Joint Secretary Lily Pandeya and other delegates of the International Cultural Relations Department, Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The Ukrainian delegation was headed by the Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Taras Shevchenko. Representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Book Institute and the Embassy of Ukraine in India also took part in the meeting.
