On January 27, 2025, Ambassador of Ukraine to India Dr. Oleksandr Polishchuk , alongside representatives of diplomatic missions and cultural institutions in New Delhi, took part in the Holocaust Remembrance Day commemoration at Alliance Française de Delhi, honoring the memory of six million Jews and millions of others who perished in the Holocaust.
The horrors of the Holocaust and Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine share troubling parallels. Just as past atrocities were justified through twisted narratives of liberation, Russia’s rhetoric of “de-Nazification” mirrors those same dangerous tactics to rationalize violence and territorial expansion. Today, millions of Ukrainians face displacement, destruction, and war crimes as history’s darkest lessons remain unheeded.
During his visit to Auschwitz, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered a powerful message:
“We must stand united in the fight for freedom, just as those who survived the Holocaust fought for their lives against the evil of their time.”
The past warns us—only truth, remembrance, and unwavering solidarity can prevent history from repeating itself.
