Ukrainians in India joined the global campaign "Chain of Unity", which symbolizes the common desire of all Ukrainians in the world to live in a free state that determines its own future.

On January 22, we commemorate two equally important events in Ukrainian history:

• Declaration of independence of the Ukrainian People's Republic in 1918 and
• Proclamation of the Act of Unification of Ukrainian lands into united Ukraine in 1919.

The Proclamation of the Act of Unification of Ukrainian lands on January 22, 1919, when the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Western Ukrainian People's Republic united into a cathedral state, crowned the desire to unite Ukrainians divided by the borders of the empires of that time. This event completely destroys the claims of Russian propaganda that Ukrainian lands were united for the first time by Stalin in 1939.

After the announcement of the Unification of the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Western Ukrainian People's Republic on January 22, 1919, the issue of the unity of the Ukrainian nation was never questioned in Ukrainian political opinion.

For many decades, the Act of Unification remained the ideological imperative of the struggle for an independent, sovereign Ukraine.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Ukrainians united after the fall of empires. Currently, Ukraine continues the struggle for independence and unity. That is why sovereignty remains on the agenda of national tasks. Integrity will be completely restored after Ukraine frees all territories occupied by the aggressor.

Consistency is the goal of Victory. Soviet and Russian propaganda contrasted Ukrainian regions and imposed ideas about different "types" of Ukrainians. However, in today's resistance to Russian aggression, we have proven our solidarity and common desire to live in a free state that determines its own future. Solidarity involves not only the memory of the common past, but also requires united cooperation for the sake of the future, both on the battlefield and in the rear. We have a common goal: an independent, democratic and sovereign Ukraine.
