On 24 March, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis received copies of the credentials from the Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to Ukraine (concurrently accredited) H.E. Ms. S. Hasanthi Urugodawatte Dissanayake.

Yevhen Perebyinis congratulated the Ambassador on the beginning of her diplomatic mission and emphasized the importance of Sri Lanka’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as establishing a just and lasting peace.

The parties discussed the possibilities of enhancing political dialogue between the two countries, as well as ways to deepen bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade, economy, and education. 

The representatives of states also exchanged views regarding the potential use by Ukraine of Sri Lanka's experience in humanitarian demining.
