In 2025, total trade turnover between Ukraine and India amounted to USD 2.61 billion. Ukrainian exports to India reached USD 857 million, while imports from India to Ukraine totalled USD 1.75 billion. As a result, Ukraine recorded a trade deficit of USD 900 million.
The main component of Ukrainian exports to India was sunflower oil, accounting for approximately two-thirds of total exports. Other major export items included maize, dried leguminous vegetables, coal and anthracite, as well as certain categories of machinery and equipment.
The main commodities imported from India to Ukraine included mineral fuels, petroleum and distillation products, pharmaceutical products (in measured doses or packaged for retail sale), electrical machinery, new pneumatic rubber tyres, as well as activated carbon, other mineral products, and chemical industry products.

Prospective directions of bilateral cooperation in the economic sphere are considered in the framework of the Ukraine-India Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical, Industrial and Cultural Cooperation (hereinafter - IGC), which was established under the Intergovernmental Agreement dated of April 19,1994. Its last, 6th Session was held on February 5-6, 2018 in Kyiv.
On March 29, 2024 meeting on the activities in the framework of Ukraine-India IGC was held in New Delhi under the chairmanship of the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Minister of External Affairs of India.
On May 15, 2024, the 5th meeting of the Joint Working Group on Trade and Economic cooperation was held in online format.
On March 19, 2025, during the working visit of the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the business forum “Ukraine–India: From Comprehensive to Strategic Partnership” was held in Mumbai.
On June 18, 2025, a meeting of the Ukraine–India Joint Working Group on Agriculture was held in online format.
