On June 24-25, 2016 Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka H.E. Mr. Mangala Samaraweera paid an official visit to Ukraine. In its framework the Sri Lankan delegation members were received by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine H.E. Mr. Pavlo Klimkin, as well as the Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Mr. Yevhen Yenin.
During negotiations the Heads of Foreign Ministry discussed a wide range of topical issues of bilateral interaction, underlined the mutual interests in developing relations in trade, investment, tourist, agricultural and other areas. Special attention was drawn to necessity of improving the bilateral dialogue on protecting the legitimate rights and interests of citizens of Ukraine and Sri Lanka, particularly those, who were sentenced or being under investigation.
Following the bilateral meeting three intergovernmental treaties were signed - On Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, On Extradition and On Transfer of Sentenced Persons.
