On 14 May 2026, the Ambassador of Ukraine to India, Dr. Oleksandr Polishchuk, took part in the opening ceremony of the 12th Edition of the Model United Nations Conference at Mount Carmel School, New Delhi.
In his address, the Ambassador emphasized the vital role of the United Nations and the UN Charter as the foundation of international peace, security and cooperation. He underlined the importance of international law, the rule of law, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and recalled that for more than four years Ukraine has been firmly resisting Russia’s full-scale aggression, which directly violates these fundamental principles.
The Ambassador stressed that borders cannot be changed by force and no country has the right to impose its will on another nation. This is why initiatives such as Model United Nations are so important: they help young people understand from an early age how international organisations work, why dialogue matters, and how solutions can be sought through rules, arguments and respect for others.
He wished the students inspiration, confidence and meaningful discussions, noting that as India looks towards its vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, young people will be central to shaping the country’s future and strengthening its role in the world.
The Embassy of Ukraine sincerely thanks Mount Carmel School, Principal Dr. John Rafi, Vice-Principals Mr. Lanu Yaden and Mr. Randall Livingstone, and the entire teaching staff for their warm welcome and continued cooperation. We are grateful for the friendship with Mount Carmel School and look forward to further joint initiatives with its teachers and students.
