As part of the “Empathy Bridges” project, which is implemented with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in India, the schoolchildren of Father Agnel School in New Delhi were introduced to the rich cultural heritage of Ukraine through two inspiring masterclasses.
The first masterclass featured Petrykivka painting, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, led by the talented artist Olga Syrovatko. Students learned the intricate floral and symbolic designs that represent Ukrainian traditions and bring nature to life through vibrant strokes.
The second masterclass, conducted online by Ukrainian artist Yulia Fadeeva, explored the art of crafting the Zirka—the decorative star used in Ukrainian Vertep (Christmas nativity plays and caroling traditions). The Zirka symbolizes the Star of Bethlehem, guiding carolers during Christmas festivities and spreading messages of peace and joy.
These masterclasses offered a wonderful opportunity for the children to connect with Ukrainian culture, building people-to-people connections between Ukraine and India from childhood.
We express our sincere gratitude to Yulia Fadeeva, Olga Vorozhbyt and Olga Syrovatko for their dedication to promoting Ukrainian culture and traditions, and Rudroneel Ghosh for his leadership and ideas. Looking forward to further productive cooperation.
