May 18, 2024 marks the 80th anniversary of the forced deportation of nearly 200,000 Crimean Tatars, one of the heinous crimes committed by the Soviet totalitarian regime.  

Eighty years after the deportation, the crimes against Crimean Tatars continue today in Crimea, temporarily occupied by Russia. 

Russian Federation continues the totalitarian, Soviet-like in nature, and imperial in spirit traditions of enslavement, carrying out systematic repressions against Crimean Tatars who oppose the occupation of the Crimean Peninsula. 

Ukraine has recognised this crime as an act of genocide against the Crimean Tatar people as well as Latvia and Lithuania in 2019 and Canada in 2022.  

The Crimean Tatar flag raising ceremony in the Embassy of Ukraine in India serves as a symbol of the ultimate truth - Crimea is Ukraine. 

The justice should be served, Crimea will be deoccupied.
