The historic monument of Qutub Minar was illuminated in the blue and yellow colours of the Ukrainian national flag, marking Ukraine’s National Flag Day (23 August) and dedicated to Ukraine’s Independence Day (24 August).
Despite heavy rains just moments before the ceremony, the skies cleared in time, allowing the illumination to shine brightly over the Delhi landmark. The moment stood as a powerful symbol of resilience and hope.
The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, members of the Ukrainian community in India, and Indian friends and partners. Their presence and solidarity made this celebration profoundly meaningful for Ukraine.
The Embassy of Ukraine expresses its deep gratitude to the Ministry of External Affairs of the Republic of India, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of India, the Archaeological Survey of India, and Tagbin Services (Implementation Agency) for their invaluable support in making this illumination possible.
This is not the first time Qutub Minar has been lit in Ukrainian colours. In 2021, the monument was similarly illuminated to mark the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence — a tradition of friendship and understanding that continues to this day.
