On 17 April 2026, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov held a meeting with Minister of External Affairs of India Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. 

Rustem Umerov stated: 

“I held a meeting with India’s Minister of External Affairs, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. 

We discussed the current situation on the front line, the course of negotiations, and the prospects for achieving a just, lasting, and sustainable peace for Ukraine. We also focused on the development of bilateral cooperation and the implementation of the agreements set out in the Joint Statement of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, following his visit to Ukraine in August 2024. 

I am grateful for the open and substantive dialogue. We look forward to further strengthening bilateral cooperation.”
