On November 23, a special Holy Mass on the tragic occasion of the 92nd anniversary of the #Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine took place at the Chapel of the Apostolic Nunciature in New Delhi.
It was a heartfelt event that brought a deep sense of connection and emotion. The Jesus Youth Movement Chorus, which set everything in motion, made it truly special.
We are deeply grateful to the Embassy of the Holy See and especially to His Excellency Most Rev. Fr. Leopoldo Girelli, the Apostolic Nuncio to India & Nepal, and Msgr. Juan Pablo Cerrillos Hernandez for a peaceful and heart-warming ceremony. This is the third consecutive year of collaborating with the Embassy of the Holy See, and this tradition holds great significance for us.
We are also sincerely grateful to all our Indian and foreign friends, members of the Ukrainian community in India, who joined us today in solidarity to commemorate the millions of victims of man-made famine executed by Soviet totalitarian regime.
The Holodomor took millions of Ukrainian lives, but it did not break the Ukrainian nation in its desire for freedom and life in a free, democratic and civilised world.
We are grateful to our foreign partners for making important decisions to recognize the Holodomor of 1932–1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people, for their support and solidarity with Ukraine in this difficult time in our modern history.
Ukraine remembers, the world recognizes!
This evening we invite you to join the Ukrainian tradition and light up a candle in remembrance of the innocent victims of the Holodomor.
