On 11 May 2026, the Ukrainian delegation began its work at the annual Kimberley Process Intersessional Meeting, held in Mumbai under the Chairmanship of India.
Ukraine is represented at the event by Ms. Tetiana Drozdovych, Director of the State Gemmological Centre of Ukraine; Ms. Liubov Abravitova, Director of the Department for Africa and Regional African Organisations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine; and H.E. Dr. Oleksandr Polishchuk, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of India.
On 10 May, the delegation also actively took part in the conference titled “KP Dialogue: The Three Cs Initiative — Confidence, Compliance and Credibility”, initiated by the Kimberley Process Chair as an additional event to the main programme.
The Kimberley Process is an important international mechanism designed to promote transparency in the global diamond market, prevent trade in diamonds linked to armed conflicts, and strengthen confidence in the origin of rough diamonds.
Ukraine stands for ensuring that the instruments of the Kimberley Process remain relevant and effective in today’s geopolitical environment.
Amid the full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the issues of ethical sourcing, transparency of supply chains, and responsibility of participants in the global diamond market have acquired particular importance.
Ukraine consistently supports practical steps aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of the Kimberley Process, strengthening its ability to respond to contemporary challenges, and ensuring that human security and the principles of responsible trade prevail over commercial interests.
