Students of the Indian School of Hospitality got an opportunity to learn about Ukrainian cuisine
29 November 2023 10:00

The Embassy in collaboration with members of the Ukrainian Community in India presented a Master class on Ukrainian cuisine for the students of the Indian School of Hospitality.

The master class was conducted by Ms. Julia Danylenko Chef, founder of the Julia.Julia.Bakery (Gurgaon) with support of Ms. Olga Syrovatko, artist, co-founder of “Malva” clothing brand.

Few Ukrainian signature dishes were introduced:

  • Borscht (in 2022 declared by UNESCO as the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding) with pampushky (buns with garlic and herbs dressing);
  • Deruny (potato pancakes) with mushroom sauce;
  • Nalysnyky - sweet pancakes with cottage cheese and raisins.

We were inspired by the book of the Ukrainian Institute “Ukraine. Food & History”.  Press here to read the book

This publication will make you fall in love with Ukrainian cuisine, even more so if you try cooking according to its recipes, which were specially developed and tested by leading Ukrainian professional chefs to reflect a significant part of Ukrainian culinary heritage.

We express our sincere gratitude to the administration of the Indian School of Hospitality, in particular Dr. Zubin D’Souza, Dean - Culinary & Practical Arts, chef Sydney and students for a lovely time!

Let’s cook and eat together again!
