Not just a day, but an entire week dedicated to the timeless art and symbolism of Ukrainian embroidery, which today, in times of war, stands as a symbol of Ukraine’s spirit, dignity, and unbreakable identity.
As part of #VyshyvankaDay celebrations, on May 13, with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in India, the Ukrainian community in New Delhi organized a truly special event at Father Agnel School, Delhi.
Thanks to the heartfelt efforts of Maryna Akram, Tamara Meleshko, Natalia Okseniuk, Maryna Dodor, Tanya Gupta the school children discovered the beauty, richness, and regional diversity of Ukrainian embroidery.
This meaningful presentation and hands-on cross-stitch workshop were held for the school children participating in our Bridges of Empathy project.
Even far from their homeland, the Ukrainian community preserves and shares their traditions with warmth and generosity.
The school children had the opportunity to experience Ukrainian culture firsthand — wearing vyshyvankas, braiding their hair, trying on flower wreaths, and feeling part of the vibrant Ukrainian spirit.
We sincerely thank Father Agnel School, New Delhi, for their interest in Ukrainian culture, and to everyone who made this event possible — above all, to the Ukrainian community in New Delhi for their invaluable contribution to promoting Ukraine’s heritage and traditions in India.
